Data gathered by satellite over 22 days in 2012 was used to compile this mageof what the earth looks like at night. Most of the light sources in the map come from human activities, mainly in cities. Africa, despite its large population, shows very few concentrations of light, especially south of the Sahara (Source: NASA)
