24th World Energy Congress Update: 200 speakers confirmed!
In September 2019, the world’s energy leaders will meet at the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi to determine a course of Energy prosperity for nations, companies, societies, the environment and individuals. Conference sessions will bring together both established experts and thought leaders from across the globe. We are happy to announce some of the most recently confirmed speakers for this year’s Congress.
International SET Award 2019 Winners Announced
The winners of the SET Award 2019 for the most innovative and effective business models in the areas of energy transition and climate protection were selected: Enapter (Germany) in the category Low-Carbon Energy Production; Planet Ark Power (Australia) in the category Intelligent Grids, Platforms & Cyber Security; Blixt (Sweden) in the category Energy Efficiency, Smart Devices & Storage; Bodawerk (Uganda) in the category Innovative Mobility and Divine Bamboo (Uganda) in the category Special Prize: Quality Access & SDG7.
The World Energy Council’s Toolkit User Guide is released
The World Energy Council’s Toolkit brings together its online tools, insight briefs and interactive experiences in an easy to use guide. It provides a platform for flexible cooperation and experimentation essential for managing a timely, global transition to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
The World Energy Council releases its Global Energy Scenarios Comparison Review
In anticipation of the 24th World Energy Congress, the Council has released its Global Energy Scenarios Comparison Review during The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue event. The Council has undertaken a comparison of the assumptions, narratives, and numbers found in a peer group of global energy scenarios of interest to Council members.
Success for the Council’s Pilot Cyber Workshops
On Monday 8th of April 2019, the World Energy Council hosted a Cyber Workshop pilot at Chatham House in London, with our partners Marsh and McLennan Companies. This event was a proof of concept for a series of workshops exploring cybersecurity crafted by the Council’s Policy and Risk Insights Team. The success and positive reception of this pilot workshop will contribute to the design of a program that will eventually be rolled out across the Council’s Community.
Global Foresight Refresh Forum in partnership with Accenture Strategy
The World Energy Council, in partnership with Accenture Strategy, hosted the Global Foresight Refresh Forum on the 4th and 5th of April. This Workshop represents a milestone in the Council’s strategic initiative to refresh its global foresight and support energy leaders in defining and driving a successful energy transition.

The FEL-100 global impact community of exceptional young professionals share a commitment to shape the energy future, solve the world’s most pressing challenges in energy and sustainability, engage in national, regional and global activities and events and deliver innovative projects through their ‘Market of Ideas’ programme.

8th European Energy Forum: The Cost of European Energy Transitions 11 & 12 June 2019 Salons Hoche. In Europe, the energy transition has taken very different forms depending on the committed countries and the priorities they set: climate change, energy intensity reduction, disengagement from fossil fuels, development of renewable energies, phasing out of nuclear power, citizens’ aspirations for territorial development, energy sobriety, economic competitiveness and purchasing power.
